The Airbnb turnover checklist that keeps Edmonton listings at five stars
Before Uprise Clean launched to the public, our team spent months as the in-house cleaning crew for a property management company, turning over short-term rentals between guests. Turnovers taught us something a regular house clean never does: guests decide how clean a place is in the first ten seconds, and they decide it with their nose and their feet before their eyes.
The first ten seconds
Walk in as a guest would. Is there a smell — cooking, damp towel, last guest's perfume? Are the floors clean underfoot, especially in the entry? Is there anything on a surface that is not meant to be there? Those three things set the cleanliness score before anyone opens a drawer.
The turnover checklist
Bedrooms. Strip every bed, check the mattress protector, remake with fresh linens, fluff and square the pillows. Check under the bed and in drawers for left-behind items. Wipe the nightstands and light switches.
Bathrooms. Full refresh: toilet, shower and tub, sink and mirror, fresh towels folded the same way every time, toiletries topped up, hair checked in the drain and on the floor (guests notice hair more than anything else).
Kitchen. Complete reset: dishes clean and put away in the same places, counters and stovetop degreased, inside the microwave, fridge emptied of guest food and wiped, coffee station reset, garbage and recycling out.
Living areas. Cushions straightened, remotes and guidebooks back in their spots, surfaces dusted, floors vacuumed and mopped throughout.
Staging. The same welcome arrangement on every turnover — because consistency is what five-star reviews actually measure.
Laundry logistics
Linens are the logistical heart of a turnover. Two full sets per bed means one set can be washing while the other is on the bed; our laundry add-on (wash, dry and fold, $20 per load) handles it on site where a machine is available. Hosts with several units often keep a central linen stock instead and have the cleaner swap sets.
Scheduling between bookings
Most Edmonton listings run an 11:00 check-out and a 15:00 or 16:00 check-in, which leaves a four-to-five-hour window. Book the turnover for that window, tell us your exact times, and if a same-day booking lands, message us — we can often re-slot. Turnovers are priced by the unit's square footage like any residential clean, and a recurring rhythm earns the recurring discount.
Damage and supplies
A turnover cleaner is also your eyes on the unit. We note damage, missing items and low supplies, and flag anything that needs you before the next guest — which is often the difference between a repair and a refund.
