How to get the most out of a cleaning visit (and what we can't do)
A cleaning visit is a fixed block of time against a fixed checklist. The more of that time goes to cleaning rather than to working around things, the better the result. Ten minutes the night before makes a real difference.
Clear the surfaces
We clean surfaces; we do not sort what is on them. Mail, chargers, toys, makeup and the drying rack all have to be moved and moved back, and every item moved is a minute not spent on the counter underneath. Pick up loose items and the team can clean the whole surface, not the gaps between things.
Leave out what you want used
Our teams arrive fully equipped, with professional supplies and tools. If you would like a specific product used — an eco-friendly line, a particular hardwood cleaner, your own vacuum because of allergies — note it in your booking and leave it out where the team will see it.
Sort access once
Most clients are not home during a visit, and that is completely fine. Give us a lockbox code, a door code or a key arrangement in the booking form, tell us how the alarm works, and it carries forward to every visit. If you are home, that is fine too — just know the team works room by room and will ask you to move between rooms as they go.
Pets
Tell us about pets when you book (there is a pet add-on, which gives the team the extra time fur needs), and find them a safe spot while we work. A dog that follows the vacuum is a dog that is not enjoying its afternoon.
Book the real size of your home
If the finished basement is in the clean, it is in the square footage. A home booked smaller than it is runs out of time, and the visit ends with something skipped. If the size was booked wrong, we review it with you on arrival and adjust before starting.
What is out of scope
For the safety of our team and your home, there are things we do not do:
- Move furniture or items over 25 lb — have appliances moved ahead of time if you want behind them cleaned
- Ladder work beyond a standard two-step stool
- Exterior windows, carpet steam cleaning, deep stain or odour removal
- Biohazards or bodily fluids, pest infestations, mould remediation, hazardous materials
- Handling highly fragile, valuable or irreplaceable items
- Active construction or renovation sites (post-construction cleans are booked after the work is done)
If an area is blocked, excessively cluttered or needs a specialty service, the team cleans around it and cannot guarantee the result there. If your home needs something outside our scope, ask — we are happy to recommend alternatives.
Afterwards
Walk through when you get home. If anything is not to your expectations, tell us within 24 hours and we come back to make it right at no charge; if you are still not satisfied, we refund the visit. That guarantee is the reason the checklist is fixed — it is the standard we are promising to meet.
